General Questions
Do I need to treat my water if I have a watermaker?
While the water produced by water makers may be clean, the tanks and pipes it flows through can still harbor bacteria and biofilm growth.
In warm climates, stagnant water is a breeding ground for bacteria and biofilm growth in your tanks. Even with a water maker, it's crucial to take preventive measures.
We recommend using a maintenance dose of Shock Biofilm Eliminator and regular treatments of Aquatabs to ensure safe drinking water.

How should I treat my water if I have a large tank?
If you already have confidence in your water source—whether it's from a water maker or properly chlorinated municipal water—consider using a maintenance dose of Shock Biofilm Eliminator. Adding a tablespoon of shock for every hundred gallons of water at each fill helps prevent the growth of bacteria and biofilm inside your tanks.
Afterwards, we recommend periodic treatment with Aquatabs. Especially if you're leaving your boat or RV for an extended period.
How should I treat my water if my tank is interconnected or has baffles?
When dealing with interconnected tanks, it's best to run them as low as possible before topping off. Add your treatment beforehand, then begin filling. This ensures that the treatment is pushed into the second tank as it dissolves, promoting even dispersion. With Aquatabs, for instance, which takes about five minutes to dissolve, this method ensures efficient distribution throughout the system.

Aquatabs
What are Aquatabs ?
Aquatabs tablets are an easy to use, reliable, and cost effective solution to maintain freshwater systems on any marine vessel or RV.
Aquatabs eliminates odors and harmful microorganisms, making your water clean and safe to use.
The active ingredient is sodium dichloroisocyanurate.
How do you use Aquatabs for the first treatment?
The purpose of your first treatment is to treat the full volume of all of the water that will be in your tank after you fill.
1. While filling or topping off your water tanks, add 1 Aquatabs tablet for every 4 gallons of water needed to fill your tank's full capacity. For example, a 40 gallon tank will require 10 tablets.
2. Fill or top off your water tank(s) and wait 30 minutes.
3. Run enough water out of an unfiltered faucet so that water is drawn from the tank. Usually a couple of gallons would be sufficient.
4. To make sure your water is within the safe drinking range, we recommend testing your water from your faucet using our Sensafe Test Strips. You should get a reading of between 1 and 1.5 parts per million (ppm or mg/l)
5. For the first week or so, test the water daily to ensure that the treatment is holding. A significant drop in free chlorine (ie below .5 ppm) may indicate that you have biofilm, algae or bacterial growth in your tank that may require a shock treatment.
How long does it take for Aquatabs to start work?
The tablets quickly dissolves and disinfects water in 30 minutes. However, before drinking, make sure to test your water with our Sensafe Test Strips to ensure your water is safe to drink.
If your free chlorine levels drop below .5ppm, it may indicate that you have biofilm, algae or bacterial growth in your tank that may require a shock treatment. See below for instructions on how to perform a shock treatment.
How do you use Aquatabs for maintenance treatments?
The purpose of this water purification tab treatment is to treat the volume of new water added to your tanks, assuming that the existing water in the tank has already been treated appropriately.
1. When adding new water to your tank, you'll need to measure how many gallons you add in order to know how many tablets you'll need to treat the new water with. You can measure this using our Save-a-Drop water flow meter.
2. After each 4 gallons added, drop in 1 Aquatabs tablet into your water tank.
3. After waiting 30 minutes, run enough water out of an unfiltered faucet so that water is drawn from the tank. Usually a couple of gallons would be sufficient.
4. To make sure your water is within the safe drinking range, we recommend testing your water from your faucet using our Sensafe Test Strips. You should get a reading of between 1 and 1.5 parts per million (ppm or mg/l)
How long does Aquatabs work for?
Aquatabs water purification tablets have a time-release benefit that keeps treating your water system for 2-4 weeks after introduction. The duration of how long Aquatabs will last depends on how clean your tank was to begin with.
To make sure your water is safe to drink, we recommend performing a shock treatment first with Shock and using a maintenance dose with your Aquatabs to prevent future build up of biofilm.
Where are Aquatabs made?
Aquatabs is produced by our manufacturer, Medentech Ltd, located in Ireland.
How much water does Aquatabs treat?
1 Aquatabs tablet will treat 4 gallons of water
Is Aquatabs NSF certified?

Sensafe Test Strips
What are Sensafe Test Strips?
SenSafe® Free Chlorine Water Check test strips are the ONLY EPA APPROVED test strips used for drinking water compliance monitoring.
They combine a wide range of water quality detection with our patented Free Chlorine indicator. Designed to resist interference from monochloramines, Sensafe Test Strips are perfect for determining whether or not you have the correct amount of sanitizer present.
Furthermore, no external chemicals are needed to perform the water quality test so testing is quick, easy, and affordable.
What range should my water reading be at?
Your Sensafe Test Strips come with a reference range card. Compare the color outcome on the test strip to the colors on the card. You should get a reading of between 1 and 1.5 parts per million (ppm or mg/l).
A significant drop in free chlorine (ie below .5 ppm) may indicate that you have biofilm, algae or bacterial growth in your tank that may require a shock treatment.
How often should I test my water?
After your first treatment, test the water daily to ensure that the treatment is holding.
Once you are in a maintenance treatment phase, we recommend testing your water on a weekly basis.
Are Sensafe Test Strips EPA Approved?
Yes, our Sensafe Test Strips are EPA tested and approved.
How long will it take to test my water?
No external chemicals are needed to perform the water quality test so testing is easy and takes less than 1 minute.
Shock Biofilm Eliminator
How does Shock Biofilm Eliminator work?
Shock Biofilm Eliminator has historically been utilized in commercial settings, including by municipal water companies to keep their plumbing systems free from growth. Each bottle treats a hundred gallons of water.
Shock dissolves the polysaccharides that bind biofilm growth together causing it to break down so it can be flushed out. It is a non-hazardous material, that is safe to use in drinking water and can be used at low doses to maintain a biofilm free fresh water system.
How do I know if I need a Shock treatment?
If your water system has a rotten egg odor, you keep getting significant drops in your free chlorine levels, or you're unsure about its quality, it's probably time for a Shock Treatment.
How do I use Shock Biofilm Eliminator?
Start by filling your tanks halfway with water, then add the product. Remove all screens and shower heads from your boat or RV, and ideally treat the system while it's in movement. The movement helps dislodge growth from tank walls and plumbing.
Run water through each faucet to ensure the product contacts all surfaces in the plumbing system. Repeat this periodically throughout the 24-hour treatment period. Once complete, flush your system. If you notice brown sloughing off, it indicates significant growth removal. Continue flushing until the water runs clear.
Save a Drop Water Meter
Why do I need a Water Meter?
One Aquatabs tablet treats 4 gallons of water. In order to know how many gallons you need to treat, we recommend attaching a water meter between the hose and the fill to keep track of how much water you’re using and adding
